Burriana (or Borriana in Valencian) is a coastal municipality located in the province of Castellón, in Spain's Valencian Community. The city has a rich historical background dating back to medieval times, when it was an important Moorish stronghold before being conquered by James I of Aragon in 1233.
The town's economy was traditionally based on orange cultivation and exports through its port, which played a significant role in its development during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Burriana combines its agricultural heritage with modern urban development and maintains several notable cultural landmarks, including the Gothic-style Church of El Salvador, which is one of the town's most significant architectural monuments.
The city preserves its cultural heritage through various festivals and traditions, including the Fallas celebration in March, which is characteristic of the Valencian Community.
