Burntisland is a coastal town located on the Firth of Forth in Fife, Scotland. This historic port town, which dates back to the 12th century, has played various significant roles throughout Scottish history, including as an important industrial center and ferry port.
The town features a historic parish church from 1592, which is considered one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Scotland. Burntisland was also one of the first places in Scotland to be awarded royal burgh status by King James V.
The town maintains a strong connection to its maritime heritage, with its working harbor still being an important part of the community. During the summer months, the town is known for hosting one of the oldest annual fairs in Scotland, the Burntisland Summer Fair, which has been running since the 16th century.
