Bad Schussenried is a town in the district of Biberach, located in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The town is particularly known for its former Premonstratensian monastery, which was founded in 1183. This monastery, now known as the Schussenried Abbey, has developed into a significant cultural landmark featuring impressive Baroque architecture. The library hall of the monastery, completed in 1756, is considered one of the finest examples of Rococo architecture in Upper Swabia.
The town received its 'Bad' (spa) title due to its therapeutic moorland baths, which have been used for health treatments since the 19th century. Today, Bad Schussenried combines its historical heritage with modern health tourism, while maintaining its character as a traditional Upper Swabian town.
