Achnacarry is a historic estate located in the Scottish Highlands, situated in the Lochaber region near Fort William. The estate is the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan Cameron and features Achnacarry Castle, which was built in the 1802 after the original castle was burned down following the Jacobite Rising of 1745.
During World War II, Achnacarry served as the primary training center for the Allied Forces' Commando units, earning it the nickname "Castle Commando." The estate combines natural Highland beauty with significant historical importance, particularly in relation to Scottish clan history and military training.
Today, the estate maintains its cultural significance while also serving as a testament to both Highland heritage and wartime history.
