The ToonSeum, also known as the Pittsburgh Museum of Cartoon Art, was a unique institution dedicated solely to the celebration and exploration of cartoon arts. Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it was a hub for cartoon enthusiasts and artists alike, offering a deep dive into the world of cartoons and their impact on popular culture.
On November 8, 2009, the ToonSeum relocated to its own gallery space on Liberty Avenue, in the heart of Pittsburgh's downtown Cultural District. This move was made possible with the help of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, highlighting the city's commitment to supporting and promoting the arts.
On February 16, 2018, the ToonSeum announced that it would be closing its physical location on Liberty Avenue on February 24, 2018. The museum's leadership decided to shift its focus towards direct community outreach, aiming to bring the joy and creativity of cartoon arts to a wider audience.
