The Thorvaldsens Museum is a museum in Copenhagen that is dedicated to Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844). It is the oldest museum in Denmark that was built from 1839 to 1848, after the sculptor returned from Rome in 1838. In addition to the collection of models and drawings of almost all sculptures, sculpture groups and reliefs, the museum also displays the artist's private collection. These include paintings by contemporaries, as well as a large collection of Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiques, books, coins and various other objects. In the museum's courtyard is the sculptor's simple, unadorned grave.

Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a notable institution dedicated to the works of the renowned Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The museum offers visitors a comprehensive look at Thorvaldsen's sculptures, reliefs, and sketches, as well as his personal art collection. The building itself, with its distinct architecture and colorful frescoes, adds to the overall experience.
Visitors often praise the extensive collection of neoclassical sculptures, highlighting the skill and artistry of Thorvaldsen's work. The museum provides a good overview of the artist's life and career, with informative displays and well-curated exhibits. Many appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, which allows for contemplation of the artworks.
However, some visitors mention that the museum can feel a bit overwhelming due to the large number of similar sculptures, and a few find the layout somewhat confusing. Additionally, while most find the entry fee reasonable, others suggest it might be slightly high for those not particularly interested in neoclassical art or Thorvaldsen's work specifically.
The museum's location in central Copenhagen is convenient for tourists, and its proximity to other attractions is seen as a plus. The gift shop receives mixed reviews, with some finding interesting items while others consider it limited.
Overall, Thorvaldsens Museum is generally well-regarded for its historical significance and the quality of its collection. It's particularly recommended for those interested in sculpture, neoclassical art, or Danish cultural history.
