Thompson Mills Forest, spanning 330 acres, serves as both a research forest and the official state arboretum of Georgia. It is conveniently located at 8755 Highway 53, Braselton, Georgia. The arboretum is managed by the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Today, Thompson Mills Forest is home to approximately 90% of Georgia's native trees. Additionally, it boasts a significant pinetum, which houses more than 100 species of conifers. This diversity makes it a unique destination for nature enthusiasts and researchers alike.
Apart from its rich biodiversity, the arboretum also features an intriguing granite outcrop and several miles of walking trails. These trails provide an excellent opportunity for visitors to explore the forest and its diverse flora and fauna.
