Clandon Park House, located in West Clandon near Guildford in Surrey, is a grade I listed Palladian mansion that dates back to the early 18th century. This architectural gem stands as a testament to the grandeur of the period and offers a glimpse into the past. Visitors can appreciate the intricate design and craftsmanship that went into the construction of this historic mansion.
In April 2015, Clandon Park House suffered significant damage due to a fire, likely caused by an electrical fault in the basement. The fire left the house essentially a shell, with only one room, the Speaker's Parlour, remaining intact. Despite this, the house continues to be a site of historical significance and interest.
In close proximity to Clandon Park House is a Māori meeting house, one of only four located outside of New Zealand. This unique structure was brought to England in the late 19th century and offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about Māori culture and history.
