Struer Museum is a cultural-historical museum situated in the town of Struer. It was founded by the museum director and author, Johannes Buchholtz, and first opened its doors to the public on July 3, 1930. The museum is housed in the town's oldest building, the four-winged former manor house Torngaard, whose name is known from 1548.

B&O Collection at Struer Museum

Struer Museum's permanent collections include the B&O collection, which is the central focus of the new museum. The exhibition provides a chronological overview of B&O's products over time. Visitors are introduced to the history of Bang & Olufsen, with details about the world-famous business adventure that Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen created far beyond the city's borders.

Struer Kayaks Exhibition

The museum features an exhibition about Struer Kayaks. This exhibition includes examples of the handmade kayaks and narrates the story behind them. These kayaks, which are produced in Struer, have won several major international kayak competitions.

Struer Museum Reviews

Struer Museum has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

Struer Museum offers visitors an engaging look into the local history and culture of Struer, Denmark. The museum's main focus is on the town's connection to audio technology, particularly its association with Bang & Olufsen. Exhibits showcase the evolution of sound and design through various B&O products, which many visitors find interesting.

The museum also covers other aspects of Struer's history, including its maritime heritage and general town development. While some visitors appreciate the diverse content, others feel that certain areas could be expanded or updated.

The museum is relatively small, which can be seen as either a positive (easy to navigate) or a negative (limited content) depending on visitor expectations. Many reviewers mention that the museum can be explored thoroughly in about an hour or two.

Staff members are generally described as friendly and knowledgeable, although some visitors note that not all information is available in English, which can be a drawback for international tourists.

The museum's location in the town center is convenient, and the building itself has some historical charm. However, a few visitors mention that the facility could benefit from some modernization or renovation.

Overall, Struer Museum provides a decent overview of the town's history and its claim to fame in audio technology. While it may not be a top destination for those not specifically interested in Bang & Olufsen or local Danish history, it offers an informative experience for those curious about Struer's heritage.
