The Brusselpoort Museum is housed in the only old 13th-century city gate. The museum is dedicated to the city of Mechelen and tells the story of how the city developed from around 1000 to 1900. The museum mainly shows historical documents and archaeological finds. Old plans, descriptions, documents and maps show how small settlements grew to become the current Mechelen.
