St. Lawrence Church
Source

The St. Lawrence Church is the only remaining monument in Rotterdam from the Middle Ages. Concerts, festivals, fairs and exhibitions are organized in this late-Gothic church. In addition, church services can also still take place. Each year a new, varied program is created. The permanent exhibition includes the decorated chapels and audio clips.

St. Lawrence Church, also known as Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk, is a prominent landmark in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This Gothic church, dating back to the 15th century, stands as the only remaining medieval structure in Rotterdam's city center. The church survived the bombing of Rotterdam in World War II, making it a symbol of the city's resilience.

Visitors generally appreciate the church's historical significance and architectural beauty. The exterior impresses with its grand scale and intricate stonework. Inside, the church offers a spacious and serene atmosphere, with notable features including a large organ, beautiful stained glass windows, and bronze doors with relief depictions of War and Peace.

Many reviewers highlight the church's interesting mix of old and new elements, as it has been restored and partially modernized over the years. The view from the tower is often mentioned as a highlight, offering panoramic vistas of Rotterdam's skyline, though some visitors note that the climb can be challenging.

The church also functions as a cultural venue, hosting concerts and exhibitions, which adds to its appeal for many visitors. However, some reviewers mention that the entrance fee might be considered a bit high for a church visit.

Overall, St. Lawrence Church is generally well-regarded for its historical value, architectural interest, and as a quiet refuge in the bustling city center. It offers a blend of Rotterdam's past and present, though the experience might vary depending on individual interests in history and architecture.
