Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum used to be one of the ‘buitenplaatsen’ in Cralingen. Now there are gardens with fountains, herbaceous borders, a desert greenhouse and an aviary. There are thousands of perennials and bulbs, and hundreds of trees and shrubs. The old part of the garden has an English landscape style.

Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum is a peaceful green oasis in the heart of Rotterdam. This botanical garden and arboretum offers visitors a diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and plants from around the world. The garden's layout is well-designed, with winding paths that lead through various themed areas, including a rhododendron valley, a bamboo forest, and a collection of rare conifers.
Visitors appreciate the tranquil atmosphere and the opportunity to escape the urban environment. The garden is well-maintained, with informative labels on many plants, making it educational for both casual visitors and plant enthusiasts. The changing seasons offer different experiences, with spring bringing colorful blooms and autumn showcasing vibrant foliage.
While many enjoy the garden's beauty, some visitors note that it may not be as extensive or diverse as larger botanical gardens in other cities. The cafe on-site receives mixed reviews, with some finding it a pleasant spot for refreshments, while others feel it could offer more variety.
Accessibility is generally good, but some paths may be challenging for those with mobility issues. The entry fee is considered reasonable by most, though a few visitors feel it's slightly high for the size of the garden.
Overall, Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum is a well-regarded attraction in Rotterdam, offering a serene environment for nature lovers, families, and those seeking a break from city life. It's particularly appreciated by plant enthusiasts and those interested in horticulture.
This park is located not far away from the city centre. We had a wonderful stroll through this beautiful park. It features 4 small gardens, from historical gardens to more modern ones. It is a must see for people interested in trees and special plants. Also very nice to just relax!
Trompenburg is a beautiful garden with various types of trees and flowers and a small spring. Recommended for people who are looking for a quiet place in Rotterdam. Good for a relaxing walk and there are a lot of benches where you can rest if needed. Of course, the gardens are especially nice on a sunny day!
