Seguine Mansion and its collection

Seguine Mansion
Source

The Seguine Mansion, also known as the Seguine-Burke Mansion, is a historic site located on Lemon Creek near the southern shore of Staten Island, New York City. This Greek Revival house is one of the few surviving examples of 19th-century life on Staten Island, offering visitors a glimpse into the past. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic House Trust.

Restoration of Seguine Mansion by George Burke

In 1981, the Seguine Mansion was in serious need of repair and was sold to George Burke, a local who had previously restored other historic buildings in the community. Burke not only saved the building but also ensured that the property would not be subdivided. His restoration of the house took more than five years and sixty gallons of paint.

Touring the Seguine Mansion

Tours of the Seguine Mansion are scheduled by the Friends of the Seguine Mansion, and are available by appointment only. This allows visitors to explore the mansion at their own pace and in a more intimate setting. The Friends of Seguine Mansion is a not-for-profit organization formed for the purpose of fundraising for the care and maintenance of the Seguine Mansion residence and grounds.
