Where the rivers tell their story ! Open the door to RIVEO and enter the fabulous world of the river ! A surprising world of diversity, natural riches, a universe which we sometimes ponder, regularly encounter, yet often don't really understand. Cross the threshold: nature's treasures are just waiting to be discovered. At RIVEO, aquariums and themed exhibitions are an invitation for you to constantly learn more and, above all, to have fun ! The visit begins with "STOP INVASIONS!", an exhibition which tells the short, or long, story of IAS. In other words, Invasive Alien Species… In a semi-underground building, branches of the river have been rebuilt and aquariums present fresh-water fish in a unique and surprising showcase. You will meet the tench and learn why it's nicknamed the doctor fish, the pike with a more sinister nickname - the river shark, and even the smallest of them all, the stickleback, wich builds a nest for its young. It's a funny-looking bird ! All in all, there are around twenty fish and shellfish wearing the Ardennes coulours. You finish with a little stroll around the splendid gardens or perhaps a game of mini golf ! Monastic, Moorish gardens, a labyrinth, renaissance... even contemporary... the gardens invite you for an enjoyable and relaxing interlude at the very heart of Hotton. How about mini golf ? There's an 18 hole that we are told is exceptional ! Shall we go ? At RIVEO, we like to wear our boots! Put yours on and stroll with our guides along the banks or dip your feet in the water for an even more memorable experience... during our fishing activities (by apppointment).

RIVEO has 1 rating.
RIVEO, located in Hotton, Belgium, is an interpretive center focused on river ecosystems and aquatic life. The museum offers visitors an educational experience about the Ourthe River and its inhabitants. Exhibits include aquariums showcasing local fish species, interactive displays about river ecology, and information on the region's biodiversity. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained aquariums and the opportunity to see native fish up close. The museum is particularly engaging for children, with hands-on activities and educational games. Some visitors note that while the content is interesting, the museum is relatively small and can be explored in a short time. The outdoor area, including a riverside walk, adds value to the experience. Staff members are generally described as friendly and knowledgeable. However, some guests mention that more extensive English translations would be helpful for international visitors. Overall, RIVEO provides a good introduction to local aquatic ecosystems, though it may not offer enough depth for those seeking a more comprehensive museum experience.
