Penmaenmawr Museum takes you on a journey through the history of the landscape, the town and its people using stories and objects from the ancient past to the present. The museum spans two floors, with the main exhibition gallery situated on the ground floor and another exhibition room showing a rolling programme of exhibitions on the first floor. We look after a collection of objects, photographs and documents relating to the history of Penmaenmawr and the local area. The collection covers a number of themes including Bronze Age settlements, Neolithic axe-making, social and cultural history, the quarry industry and tourism. Penmaenmawr Museum is an independent community museum, run by volunteers. As well as managing the museum and coffee shop, we look after an archive collection; organise an annual lecture series; hold community events and lead heritage walks.

A lovely, small but quaint village museum . Lots of info on the area's history and local population of by gone times. The museum is spread out as a time line from prehistoric to 1930s showcasing axes , pottery and artefacts found from archeological digs and also has interesting slides about various famous happenings and characters from the recent past. An interesting section on the never ending work women did and a lot on the history of the quarries that were opened here and the quarry families lives. I spent about an hour or so here but a lot of the time was spent speaking with a really friendly lady called Erin who works in the recently reopened coffee shop. She was a wealth of local info on the history, local walks and locals and even some interesting tourists who visit the village! Erin was so kind she helped my daughter who had sprained her back and is an absolute asset to the shop!
