The Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana, situated in the historic center of Lucena, Andalusia, Spain, is a significant example of 18th-century private architecture. Since its inauguration in 2011, it has been home to the Lucena Interpretation Center, providing visitors with a deep understanding of the city's history and culture.
The Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana has a rich history. In 1879, it was sold to the Mata Burgos family, who later became known as Torres Burgos. The building's historical and artistic significance was recognized in 1982 when it was declared a "National Historic-Artistic Monument". Today, it is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest.
The museum at the Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana opened on March 26, 2011, with ten exhibition rooms. It quickly attracted a large number of visitors. On July 15, 2020, two new rooms were added. Room eleven, titled "The beliefs of the people", is dedicated to the early Christian basilica of Coracho. Room twelve, "Lucena... Eliossana", focuses on Sephardic culture and features pieces donated by the rabbi of the city of Melilla, as well as artifacts from the Jewish Necropolis of Lucena, including a unique funeral slab.
