The Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cabra (MAC) is a significant historical site located in the city of Cabra, in the province of Córdoba, Spain. It holds the distinction of being the oldest municipal museum in the province. The museum was established by ministerial order on January 15, 1973, following the discovery of numerous Roman sculptures and mosaics during the excavations of the Villa del Mitra.
Although the museum was established in 1973, it was not officially inaugurated until 1992. The museum houses a collection that spans virtually all historical periods, providing a comprehensive overview of the region's history. The museum underwent a major restoration in December 2008 and reopened to the public on February 28, 2015.
The museum's collection is diverse and extensive, including a large number of pieces from the caves of the Mina de Jarcas, Llanos de Jarcas and Fuente del Río. Additionally, the museum houses human bone remains with reddish pigmentation from the Necropolis of Beleña, a site that was discovered in 2015 and continues to contribute new elements to the collection.
