The Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret is one of the oldest surviving operating suites (dating from 1822) and a museum of surgical history. The museum consists of the operating suite that was used in the days before anesthetics and antiseptic surgery and the herb garret to store and cure herbs used in healing. Besides this, Old Operating Theatre Museum displays artefacts that reveal the horrors of medicine and objects on medieval monastic health care, Florence Nightingale, nursing, medical and herbal medicine and the history of St Thomas’s, Guy's Hospital and Evelina Children's Hospital.
