Old Economy Village is a hidden gem located in the Beaver Valley. As a brief historical note, the village was settled by George Rapp and his Harmonist followers in 1824. These Harmonists were a break away religious group who believed in a second coming and valued the labors of daily work. They were early industrialists and craftsmen who were highly skilled and productive. Unfortunately, there demise was the result of their beliefs in celibacy. As for the remaining village, the site is well preserved with the original buildings, numerous artifacts, and with highly educational programming and demonstrations. Old Economy Village should really be a part of anyone's To Do List who values history and its impact on telling the story of America. The village also benefits from having a highly qualified staff.
