The Breendonk Fort National Memorial is one of the best-preserved German W.O. II camps in Europe. In this 1906 army fortress, part of the Antwerp defense belt, the first prisoners arrived on Sept. 20, 1940. With an audio guide, visitors visit the kitchen, the SS office, the prisoners' rooms and the torture chamber, among others.
