Museummolen Schermerhorn is a mill from 1634 that was used to drain the water from the Schermerpolder. It is one of the eleven remaining mills of the former Schermerpolder mill complex. The mill can be visited from top to bottom, which lets the visitor properly see the operation of the mill. The museum also illustrates how people used to live and work in the mill. One of the rooms is decorated as was common in the 19th century, the other rooms as was common in early 20th century.

Museummolen Schermerhorn offers visitors an authentic Dutch experience centered around a well-preserved windmill. Located in the picturesque village of Schermerhorn, this museum provides insights into the traditional methods of water management in the Netherlands. The windmill itself is a functioning structure, allowing guests to see the inner workings and understand its historical importance in draining the polder lands.

Visitors appreciate the informative guided tours, which explain the mechanics of the windmill and its role in Dutch water management. The guides are often praised for their knowledge and enthusiasm. The museum also features exhibits on local history and the daily life of millers, adding depth to the overall experience.

Many reviewers highlight the opportunity to climb to the top of the windmill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This aspect is particularly popular, though some visitors note that the steep stairs might be challenging for those with mobility issues.

The museum's location in the quiet village of Schermerhorn is generally seen as a positive, providing a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path experience. However, some visitors mention that reaching the museum can be a bit difficult without a car.

While the museum is relatively small, most find the experience worthwhile and educational. Some reviewers suggest that the exhibits could benefit from more English translations to cater to international visitors.

Overall, Museummolen Schermerhorn is valued for its authenticity, educational value, and the unique opportunity to explore a working windmill. It offers a genuine slice of Dutch cultural heritage, albeit on a modest scale.
