Museonder is located in the visitor centre of park De Hoge Veluwe. It is the first underground museum in the world. The small museum illustrates what life is like below the surface, near the centre of the earth. The collection includes various stones, a root system of a 135 years old tree, bones of animals that are already extinct for thousands of years and a water laboratory.

Museonder, located in Otterlo, the Netherlands, offers visitors an underground experience focused on nature and geology. As part of the Kröller-Müller Museum complex within the Hoge Veluwe National Park, this subterranean museum provides an educational journey beneath the earth's surface.
The museum's exhibits highlight soil composition, root systems, and underground ecosystems. Visitors can observe cross-sections of soil layers and learn about the geological history of the region. Interactive displays and informative panels help explain complex concepts in accessible ways.
While many appreciate the unique concept and educational value, some visitors find the space somewhat limited and the content a bit dated. The museum's underground setting creates an immersive atmosphere, but it may feel claustrophobic for some. The integration with the surrounding park enhances the overall experience, allowing visitors to connect what they've learned to the natural environment above ground.
Museonder is particularly engaging for families and school groups, offering hands-on learning opportunities. However, adult visitors without a specific interest in geology or soil science might find the content less captivating. The museum's location within the larger Kröller-Müller complex adds value, as it complements the art and sculpture collections above ground.
Overall, Museonder provides an interesting perspective on the underground world, though it may not appeal equally to all visitors. Its niche focus and educational approach make it a worthwhile stop for those interested in natural sciences, especially when combined with a visit to the broader Kröller-Müller Museum and Hoge Veluwe National Park.
