The Tower Clock Museum, located in Uscio, a city in the metropolitan area of Genoa, is a unique business museum. Founded in 2004, it is named in honor of Roberto Trebino, a young nephew of the company's founder. Tragically, Roberto was kidnapped and killed at the tender age of 20 in 1985. The museum serves as a tribute to his memory and the legacy of the Trebino family.
The museum is housed in the old factory of the Trebino family company, a business with a rich history in the field of tower clocks and bell electrification. Since 1958, the company has been a supplier to prestigious institutions such as the Vatican City, the Quirinale Palace, and the astronomical observatory of Tolentino in the Marche, among others. This connection to significant global landmarks adds to the museum's appeal.
The museum's exhibition offers a fascinating journey through the history and production of tower clocks, from ancient times to the present day. Among the models on display are some dating back to the seventeenth century. Particularly noteworthy are the handcrafted clocks, of which about thirty are considered rare. These unique pieces are not only from Italy but also from Northern Europe, providing a broad perspective on the art of clockmaking.
