The Museu Solar Monjardim (MSM) is a public historical museum situated in the Solar Monjardim, in the Santa Cecília neighborhood of Vitória, Espírito Santo. The museum is currently managed by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), a federal institution. This makes it an important site for those interested in Brazil's history and culture.
The Museu Solar Monjardim is housed in an 18th-century manor, which is considered the oldest private rural construction from the colonial period in Espírito Santo. The mansion, which was once the headquarters of the Jucutuquara farm, features eleven rooms, three halls, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Carmo, a tiled floor kitchen, and a long veranda. These features provide a glimpse into the architectural style and living conditions of the colonial period.
The Museu Solar Monjardim boasts a collection of more than two thousand pieces. This includes furniture, sacred art pieces, and household utensils, all aimed at reconstructing the residence of a wealthy rural family in the 19th century. Visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the lifestyle and culture of the period through these artifacts.
