The Mehmet Âkif Ersoy Museum House is situated in the Altındağ district of Ankara. This house holds historical significance as it was the residence of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy during the Turkish War of Independence. It was here that he penned many of his poems, including the National Anthem.
The museum house showcases personal items of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy, providing a glimpse into his life. Visitors can see his pocket watch, glasses, rosary, and rifle. Additionally, a mold of the poet's face is also on display, offering a unique perspective on the man behind the words.
The house is also the place where Mehmet Âkif Ersoy wrote the National Anthem. According to popular accounts, in order not to lose the inspiration that came at night, he would carve some verses into the walls of the dervish lodge by candlelight.
