We are happy to tell you more about the liberation of Breda in 1944 and the battle that the Poles fought for this. Meet several men from the 1st Polish Armored Division and General Maczek. In addition, we offer an up-to-date program in which freedom, peace and democracy are central. What will you see at the Maczek Memorial Breda? The Maczek Memorial Breda tells the story of the efforts of the Polish fighters in the Second World War to liberate large parts of our country. Here you can hear the personal stories of young Polish men about their journey through Europe to join the Allies and their actions during the liberation of Breda, among others. Special attention goes to General Stanislaw Maczek (1892-1994), commander of the 1st Polish Armored Division, who liberated Breda with as few civilian casualties as possible. The Polish deployment during the Second World War is told in a contemporary way in an exhibition and an auditorium. Personal stories of some Polish liberators and the struggle they had to fight are projected onto an enormous interactive wall. In addition, you will find a diverse collection of military objects from the Second World War. One of the highlights of the collection is the original uniform of General Mazcek. There is also a place for contemplation and reflection in the 'Chambre de Reflection'. There is an information and documentation center for those who want to know more about the operations of the Polish military. And the story is not complete without the Polish Military Field of Honor next to the Memorial, the largest Polish cemetery in the Netherlands. More than 160 Polish soldiers are buried here, including General Maczek himself. He died in 1994 at the age of 102, and preferred to be buried with his men in Breda.

The Maczek Memorial Breda is a small but significant museum dedicated to General Stanisław Maczek and the 1st Polish Armoured Division, which played a crucial role in liberating Breda during World War II. Visitors appreciate the well-curated exhibits that showcase the history of Polish soldiers and their contribution to the liberation of the Netherlands. The museum's strength lies in its personal stories, photographs, and artifacts that bring the wartime experiences to life. Many find the interactive elements and audiovisual presentations engaging, helping to create a more immersive experience. The staff is often praised for their knowledge and enthusiasm, adding depth to the visit through their explanations. While the museum is compact, it efficiently uses its space to convey a wealth of information. Some visitors note that more extensive English translations would be helpful for international guests. The location within the Grote Kerk adds historical atmosphere, though it may present accessibility challenges for some.
