M - Museum Leuven is housed in a building designed by the Belgian architect Stéphane Beel where historic buildings are combined with contemporary architecture. The museum displays combinations of ancient and contemporary art. In addition to a historical collection, it has temporary exhibitions of old masters and contemporary artists. It includes paintings, sculptures, photography, video and film, and design and architecture. The permanent collection has two focus points: the late Gothic period – with a 15th-century and early-16th-century paintings and sculpture collection – and the 19th century with works by Constantin Meunier, Jef Lambeaux and Georges Minne.
