The Hooper–Bowler–Hillstrom House is currently owned by the city of Belle Plaine and is open to the public. Visitors can explore the house and its furnishings, which reflect three distinct periods: the 1850s and 1860s, the Victorian era, and the early 1900s. This provides a unique opportunity to understand the evolution of domestic life and design over time.
The Hooper–Bowler–Hillstrom House is open to the public during both the summer and winter holiday seasons. One of the unique features visitors can observe is the distinctive outhouse, a two-story structure connected to the house via a skyway. However, please note that this historical feature is for viewing only and not for use.
