The Hankensbüttel Otter Centre is a nature experience centre located in Hankensbüttel, in the German district of Gifhorn. The centre is spread over 6 hectares (15 acres) of open land by a lake known as the Isenhagener See. This provides a spacious and natural environment for the otters and other species housed at the centre.
The Otter Centre is home to the European otter, a species that is currently threatened by extinction. In addition to the otters, the centre also houses several related species of marten. All these animals are kept in a natural environment that closely mimics their native habitats.
The Otter Centre attracts around 100,000 visitors annually. The centre organises approximately 60 special events each year, many of which are designed especially for children. Some examples of these events include "Life as a Red Indian", "In the Stone Age", and "In a Viking Camp". The centre also offers a range of visitor facilities, including a visitors' hall, an otter shop, a restaurant, and a pub.

The Hankensbüttel Otter Centre offers visitors a chance to observe and learn about otters in a natural setting. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained enclosures and the opportunity to see various otter species up close. The center provides informative exhibits about otter conservation and ecology. Many guests enjoy watching the playful behavior of the otters, especially during feeding times. The surrounding nature park adds to the experience, offering pleasant walks and additional wildlife sightings. Some visitors note that the center is relatively small and can be thoroughly explored in a few hours. While most find the entrance fee reasonable, a few consider it slightly high for the size of the facility. The staff is generally described as friendly and knowledgeable. The center also includes a small café and gift shop, which receive mixed reviews. Overall, the Otter Centre is well-regarded for its educational value and its efforts in otter conservation, making it a worthwhile visit for animal lovers and families, though perhaps not a full-day destination.
