Galerie Fähre is a city art gallery located in Bad Saulgau, Upper Swabia. It was founded in 1947 by Governor Coup de Fréjac, Karl-Anton Maier, and Josef Karlmann Brechenmacher. The gallery was established as a 'Centre d`Information' with the aim of democratizing Germans through art and culture after the NS dictatorship.
Since 2010, Galerie Fähre is located in the Old Monastery, a former Franciscan monastery from the 17th century. This location adds a historical charm to the gallery, making it a unique place to visit for art and history enthusiasts.
The gallery houses the city collection 'Art in Upper Swabia since 1900', which offers an overview of the art created between Ulm and Lake Constance in the past 100 years. This collection provides a comprehensive insight into the region's artistic evolution and is a must-see for art lovers.
