The Feuerwehrmuseum Kaufbeuren-Ostallgäu, located in Kaufbeuren, is a museum dedicated to the history of firefighting and the fire brigade. Opened in 1996, the museum provides a comprehensive look into the evolution of firefighting techniques and equipment over the years.
The Feuerwehrmuseum Kaufbeuren-Ostallgäu boasts a collection of nine historical vehicles. These include a horse-drawn Magirus fire pump from 1929, Daimler Benz fire group vehicles from 1942 and 1967, a ladder Mercedes Benz from 1969, a tank fire truck from Magirus-Deutz from 1955, and portable pump vehicles of the type VW Bully and Ford-Taunus from the 60s.
In 2011, the Feuerwehrmuseum Kaufbeuren-Ostallgäu opened the second children's trail in Germany. This interactive exhibit aims to convey the history and technology of the fire brigade and fire protection in a child-friendly manner, making the museum a great destination for families.
