The Quilters' Guild Museum Collection was a unique institution in York, being the first museum in Britain dedicated to the history of British quilt making and textile arts. It was located in St Anthony's Hall and was operational from 7 June 2008 to 31 October 2015. Despite its closure, it remains a significant part of York's cultural history.
Despite the closure of the physical museum, The Quilters’ Guild continues to maintain its collection of historic and contemporary quilts and is actively acquiring new pieces. The Guild is also exploring opportunities to exhibit items from the collection in other locations. More information about the collection can be found on their website at https://www.quiltmuseum.org.uk.

DIG, located in York, England, offers an engaging hands-on experience for visitors interested in archaeology. The museum provides a simulated archaeological dig where guests can uncover replica artifacts from different time periods in York's history. Many visitors appreciate the interactive nature of the exhibits, which makes learning about archaeology and local history both fun and educational, especially for children.
The museum's strengths lie in its hands-on approach and knowledgeable staff. Visitors often praise the enthusiasm and expertise of the guides, who help bring the experience to life. The opportunity to handle replica artifacts and learn about the techniques used by archaeologists is frequently highlighted as a positive aspect.
However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be explored quite quickly. A few reviews mention that the experience might be more suited for younger children or families, and that adults without children might find the content a bit basic. Additionally, some visitors feel that the admission price is a bit high for the size and scope of the museum.
Despite these minor drawbacks, DIG generally receives positive feedback for its interactive approach to learning about archaeology and York's history. It's particularly well-regarded as an educational activity for families with children, offering a hands-on introduction to the world of archaeology.
