The Hautes-Mynes or mines of Thillot are a historic copper mining site. They are located in the mountain bordering the south of the Haute Vallée de la Moselle, in the commune of Thillot, in the current French department of Vosges. This site was exploited by the dukes of Lorraine between 1560 and 1761. The history of the mines of the Haute Vallée de la Moselle began in 1550, according to written sources and archaeological findings.
The municipal tourist site of Hautes-Mynes was created to showcase this mining heritage. In the mountain, the underground network, partly classified as a historical monument since 1995, allows visitors to explore three galleries. These galleries demonstrate the ingenuity of the Renaissance miners in piercing the rock to extract the copper ore. This site offers a unique opportunity to delve into the history and techniques of mining.
