Keltenwelt Frög is an archaeological park and museum situated in the quaint village of Frög, within the municipality of Rosegg in the district of Villach-Land, Carinthia. This unique location offers visitors a chance to delve into the world of the Celts, exploring their society, economy, and worldview through the archaeological finds from the Frög burial ground.
The Frög burial ground, one of the largest and most significant burial grounds in the Southeastern Alps, was opened to the public in 1987. In 2002, an archaeological park featuring reconstructed buildings was established on the east side of the burial ground. These reconstructed buildings provide a tangible glimpse into the past, allowing visitors to better understand the Celtic way of life.
The museum center of Keltenwelt Frög is the 'Prince's House', a reconstructed residence of a high-ranking individual from the Hallstatt period. Here, visitors can gain insights into the society, economy, and mindset of the era. The Prince's House serves as a focal point for understanding the Celtic world, providing detailed information and context for the archaeological finds displayed throughout the museum.
