Casa Número Uno is part of the Museum of the City of São Paulo, which comprises thirteen historic buildings. It houses the administrative core of this institution, along with the Solar da Marquesa de Santos, Beco do Pinto, and the Museu Padre Anchieta. Today, the residence hosts the city's iconographic collection, Casa da Imagem, dedicated to the photographic memory of the capital.
The architecture of Casa Número Uno stands out from other residences in São Paulo. Its appearance is similar to chalets, a manifestation of eclecticism in the capital. These chalets, inspired by country houses in alpine regions like Switzerland, became part of the urban landscape in Brazil. The house's brick masonry walls, metal carpentry counters, full arch fillings on the ground floor, and wooden lambrequins of the roof are some of its distinctive features.
