La Casa Alegre de Sagrera is a museum building located at Font Vella Street, number 29, in Terrassa, province of Barcelona. Originally, it was the manor house of Joaquim de Sagrera, a textile manufacturer from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, who played a significant role in the Spanish War of Independence. Despite dating from the beginning of the last century, its current appearance is the result of a modernist reform carried out by Melcior Viñals, a municipal architect, at the beginning of the 20th century.
The house is currently one of the sections of the Terrassa Museum and is a model of a house of the industrial bourgeoisie of the time. After a campaign driven by the local press and the Municipal Museum Board in the mid-20th century, a drastic reform of the building that would have completely distorted it was prevented. The Alegre de Sagrera house was acquired by the City Council in 1973 with the help of the Terrassa Savings Bank and has since been open to the public, both the house and the gardens, which are accessed from Cardaire Street.

Casa Alegre De Sagrera in Terrassa, Spain, offers visitors a glimpse into the life of a wealthy Catalan family from the early 20th century. The well-preserved modernist house showcases beautiful period furniture, decorative arts, and architectural details typical of the era. Many visitors appreciate the intricate stained glass windows, ornate ceilings, and the overall aesthetic of the building. The museum provides information about the Sagrera family and the social history of Terrassa, which adds context to the visit. Some guests note that the guided tours, when available, enhance the experience by providing more in-depth information. However, a few visitors mention that the explanations in English are somewhat limited, which can be a drawback for non-Spanish speakers. The small size of the museum means it can be explored relatively quickly, which some find disappointing, while others see it as a manageable and focused experience. The central location in Terrassa makes it easily accessible, and many visitors combine it with other nearby attractions. Overall, Casa Alegre De Sagrera is generally well-regarded for its authentic representation of modernist architecture and design, though it may not offer an extensive museum experience.
