Artmark in Bucharest, Romania, is primarily known as an auction house rather than a traditional museum. It offers a unique experience for art enthusiasts and collectors. The venue hosts regular exhibitions and auctions featuring a diverse range of Romanian and international art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts.
Visitors appreciate the opportunity to view high-quality artworks before auctions, which provides an ever-changing display of pieces. The staff is generally described as knowledgeable and helpful, offering insights into the artworks and auction processes. The space itself is well-maintained and professionally presented, creating a suitable environment for art appreciation.
However, it's important to note that Artmark is not a conventional museum experience. Some visitors might find the focus on sales and auctions less appealing if they're looking for a more traditional art viewing experience. Additionally, the exhibitions are temporary and tied to upcoming auctions, which means the content is constantly changing - this can be both a positive and negative aspect, depending on personal preferences.
The location in central Bucharest is convenient for most visitors. While Artmark provides an interesting glimpse into the Romanian art market, it may not offer the depth of historical context or permanent collections that some art enthusiasts might seek in a traditional museum setting.
Overall, Artmark offers a good experience for those interested in the art market, current trends in Romanian art, and the auction process, but may not fully satisfy visitors looking for a more comprehensive museum experience.
On 28.02.2023 I bought the following watch at auction house artmark from Bucharest: Reiner Brand Grande Panama wristwatch, men's - "Mărțișor" - Fine Watches Auction #489/2023 (artmark.ro) under the link: https://www.artmark.ro/en/lot/reiner-brand-grande-panama-wristwatch-mens-en-75708. The watch was offered without papers, however, I had no doubts in the authenticity and legality, as the photos also showed the serial number (No. 114) from the watch. After some back and forth regarding shipping, I received the watch in Hamburg on 09.03.2023. In addition, the documents (in Romanian) are supplied by the Artmark. A few days later I contacted the watch manufacturer with the intention of requesting a service and revision for said watch. Obviously the watch was stolen, I learned this on 20.03.2023 when the police visited me and collected this watch from me by order of the local court. I then contacted the auction house artmark and I was promised a solution. Unfortunately, the company or this auction house artmark has not contacted me until today. The lawsuit for receiving stolen goods is on the way....
