Arkéos Archaeological Museum and Park, situated in the towns of Douai and Râches on the right bank of the Scarpe, has been welcoming visitors since June 21, 2014. The museum offers a journey through time, exploring 200,000 years of history and the lives of men and women who have lived in the region from prehistoric times to the present day.
The Arkéos Archaeological Museum and Park is a unique combination of an archaeological museum and a park featuring reconstructions of medieval habitats. This setup allows visitors to not only learn about the history and archaeology of the region but also to experience it in a tangible way through the reconstructed habitats.
The archaeological park of Arkéos is a unique open-air space dedicated to the Middle Ages, particularly the early Middle Ages (VI-XI centuries). Here, visitors can explore reconstructed ancient buildings, which have been based on traces and remains discovered during archaeological excavations. This immersive experience provides a tangible connection to the past.
