Exhibition 'D-Day: Interception, Intelligence, Invasion' in Bletchley Park
An immersive cinematic experience exploring Bletchley Park’s secret D-Day role. On 6 June 1944, the largest amphibious landing in history was launched by the Allies. D-Day, codenamed Operation Overlord, saw tens of thousands of Allied troops land along the heavily fortified Normandy coastline, ultimately gaining a vital foothold in ‘Fortress Europe’. But how did the Allies plan this epic operation?
Featuring a specially commissioned film projected on a 22m screen, the audio-visual experience is located in the restored Teleprinter Building where hundreds of thousands of intercepted messages first arrived at Bletchley Park from secret listening posts across the UK, and Ultra intelligence was transmitted to Allied headquarters.
Discover the vital importance of the Ultra intelligence produced at Bletchley Park, and the impact it had on one of the most important military operations of the twentieth century.
