Exhibition 'Block B Museum' in Bletchley Park

The galleries in Block B house a range of displays and exhibitions that all tell part of the history of Bletchley Park, including our Enigma collection and a brand new Alan Turing £50 note gifted from The Bank of England.

THE LIFE AND WORKS OF ALAN TURING DISPLAY
Alan Turing is one of the most well-known Codebreakers to have worked at Bletchley Park, helped by the 2014 Oscar-winning film, The Imitation Game. For the early part of the war, he was Head of Hut 8, working on decrypting German Naval Enigma messages. In this display, discover more about his genius at Bletchley Park, his later work on computing, and his ongoing legacy today.

BREAKING OF THE LORENZ CIPHER
Perhaps Bletchley Park’s greatest success was breaking the German’s strategic cipher, Lorenz. This complex cipher was used to secure communications between Berlin and German Commanders in the field. Featuring rare Lorenz messages, this display tells the story of how the Codebreakers broke Hitler’s “unbreakable” cipher machine.

ENIGMA MACHINES ON DISPLAY
The largest and most comprehensive display of Enigma machines in the world is housed in Block B. View different models and learn how this fiendish cipher machine worked. Enigma machines were used to encode messages before and during World War Two.
