Museums open on Monday in US virgin islands

Fort Frederik, also referred to as Frederiksfort, is a U.S. National Historic Landmark located in Frederiksted, United States Virgin Islands. The fort was constructed between 1752 and 1760 by Denmark-Norway. The primary purpose of its construction was to protect the economic interests of the natural deep water port of Frederiksted and to deter pirates.

Fort Christian is a historical fort located in Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was constructed by the Dano-Norwegians between 1672 and 1680, marking it as one of the earliest colonial establishments on the island. The fort played a crucial role in defense and governance during the Dano-Norwegian and later Danish administration, which lasted until 1917 when the islands were sold to the United States.
