Nogent-sur-Marne is a suburban commune located in the eastern suburbs of Paris, situated along the Marne River. This town has a rich cultural heritage dating back to the Belle Époque period when it became a popular leisure destination for Parisians.

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the town was known for its guinguettes (open-air cafés and dance halls) along the river banks. Today, Nogent-sur-Marne maintains its cultural significance through various institutions and historical sites. The town has preserved much of its architectural heritage, including notable Art Nouveau buildings and the Royal Palace Cinema, which dates back to 1921. The Pavillon Baltard, a preserved section of Paris's former Les Halles market, was relocated here and now serves as a cultural center and event venue.
