Dundalk is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland. Located on the outskirts of Baltimore, this working-class community has deep historical roots dating back to the early 20th century when it was developed as a planned community by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation to house its workers.
The area played a significant role in American industrial history, particularly during World War II when its shipyards and steel mills contributed substantially to the war effort. While primarily residential today, Dundalk maintains its strong sense of community and celebrates its heritage through various cultural events, including the annual Dundalk Heritage Fair. The community is home to several historic sites and maintains close ties to its industrial past through preserved architecture and local historical societies.
