Clohars-Carnoët is a commune located in the Finistère department of Brittany, in northwestern France. This coastal town, known locally as Kloar-Karnoed in Breton, combines maritime heritage with artistic tradition.
The commune includes the port of Doëlan, a picturesque fishing harbor characterized by its two lighthouses, and the beach resort of Le Pouldu, which gained historical significance as an artists' colony in the late 19th century. The area notably hosted Paul Gauguin and other post-impressionist painters who were drawn to its unique light and coastal landscapes.
The town maintains its cultural heritage while preserving its traditional Breton character, visible in its architecture and local customs.
