The Zwinger: A Strong Defensive Tower

The Zwinger in Goslar is not only a historical monument but also an architectural marvel. With a wall thickness at the base of 6.5 metres, a diameter of 26 metres and a height of 20 metres, it is one of the strongest surviving and utilised defensive towers in Europe.

Current Uses of the Zwinger

Today, the Zwinger in Goslar serves multiple purposes. It houses a restaurant on the ground floor, offering a unique dining experience. The middle floor has three holiday apartments, providing a historical stay for visitors. The top floor is home to a small museum showcasing medieval weapons, armour, and torture implements, offering a glimpse into the past.
