The Rawson Zoo, also known as Zoo Rawson, is a municipal zoo located in the General San Martín Recreational Park, on the Chubut River, in the east of the Chubut province, southern Argentina. It is the main tourist attraction of the municipality and houses a collection of over 60 species of animals. The zoo is situated in the lower valley of the Chubut River, 3 km from the city of Rawson, accessible via National Route 25.
A tour of the Rawson Zoo lasts approximately 45 minutes, during which visitors can enjoy the Patagonian fauna and gain an understanding of their interaction with the natural environment. The zoo's new concept provides the animals with better living conditions, progressively eliminating cages, providing more space, and aiming to create environments that resemble their natural habitats.
In recent years, the Rawson Zoo has been known for housing various exotic species. Notably, it has been home to Bengal tigers that were born there between 2003 and 2005. These tigers are descendants of a pair from the Córdoba Zoo that reproduced in Rawson. This adds a unique aspect to the zoo's collection of over 60 species of animals.
