Zoo Vivarium Darmstadt, also known as Darmstadt's animal garden, is a small zoo located in the southern Hessian city. It offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore a variety of animal species in a compact and accessible setting.
Opened on 28th August 1965, Zoo Vivarium Darmstadt spans an area of about four hectares. It is home to over 700 animals, representing more than 150 species. This diversity of species provides a rich and varied experience for visitors.
Zoo Vivarium Darmstadt offers a range of attractions for visitors. These include animal houses for Crested Macaques, a tropical house for Binturongs (Bearcats) and Dwarf Otters opened in 2005, a walk-through enclosure for Bennett's Wallabies, and a petting zoo with West African Dwarf Goats. These attractions provide a close-up and interactive experience with the animals.
