The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, located in Gaziantep, is home to an extensive collection of mosaics and other artifacts from the ancient garrison town of Zeugma. These pieces were rescued and preserved thanks to a campaign initiated by alarming reports in the press and the financial contribution of the Packard Humanities Institute. The museum now serves as a testament to the rich history and artistry of Zeugma.
The primary focus of the Zeugma Mosaic Museum is its collection of over 1,700 m² of Hellenistic mosaics. Despite large-scale looting of the archaeological site, what remained was more than enough to assemble the largest collection of ancient mosaics in the world. The mosaics are displayed as much as possible in their original context, namely villas along the Euphrates, which have been partially reconstructed in the museum.
