The Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Park is situated next to Presidio La Bahía in Goliad State Park and Historic Site, in Goliad County, Texas. This location is significant as it is the birthplace of Ignacio Zaragoza, a hero of the Battle of Puebla, which is commemorated each year by Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
The grounds of the Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Park also feature an amphitheater and a bronze statue of Ignacio Zaragoza. The statue, donated by the people of Puebla, Mexico, stands 10 feet tall and was unveiled on September 13, 1980.
Goliad State Park, which houses the Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Park, is open seven days a week, with entrance fees applicable. The Zaragoza house is situated about a mile south of the park's entrance, outside the park grounds. For those interested in group tours, these need to be arranged in advance.
