The Worms Zoo, situated in the recreational area Bürgerweide in the city of Worms, was inaugurated in 1972. It spans across an area of approximately 8.5 hectares. The zoo is home to over 500 animals from 80 different species, making it a diverse and engaging destination for visitors of all ages.
The Worms Zoo is divided into several thematic areas, each showcasing a unique set of species. These include a South America area, an Exotics area, an Africa area, an Australia area, a Eurasia area, and a Farm area. Each area provides a unique experience and allows visitors to learn about and interact with a variety of animals from different parts of the world.
The Worms Zoo is not just a place to see animals, but also a place to learn. The zoo offers educational programs through its zoo school, which regularly hosts various events. One such event is the 'Animal Activity Workshop', where kindergarten or school groups can learn age-appropriate topics about the animal and plant world.
